Story Submission Guidelines

Remember that your story will be read by thousands of people from all over the world eventually, so here are a few guidelines before submitting it.

• Most importantly: This is a website about real ghost experiences. It is not a site for fiction. Fictional stories will be discarded. It doesn't have to be spectacular at all, but it has to be real.

• Please take your time to write to the best of your ability, as you would, for example, when submitting school work. We have some quality standards (for the sake of our readers), and if it's too badly written (bad grammar, too many spelling errors, no punctuation or confusing story line), we will refuse it.

• You are submitting a written story, not an informal conversation! So please avoid overusing conversation fillers such as "okay," "like,” "well," "so," "anyways," "you know," "all right," "here it goes," "then this... then that... then this" and avoid chat room/sms abbreviations (eg. "u" instead of "you"). We will NOT accept stories with this style of writing.

• We reserve the right to refuse stories that are too short, juvenile, vulgar, off-topic, very poorly written, stories in uppercase, stories with no punctuations, stories that do not meet our criterias for defining a ghost experience and anything that looks like spam or promotional material.

• If a picture or video is significant to the story, it is important that you share it. (Please Note: you need to own the copyright or have legal permission to use any of the media files you submit) These can be submitted along with your story.

• Please do not divulge personal information that could make it possible for someone to find you, for your own safety. Please omit specific street names and identifying geographical features (School and shopping centre names, for example).

• No sexually explicit content is allowed.

• Do not copy stories from other people and pass it as your own. Copying or plagiarism is a breach of copyrights. We have a zero tolerance toward copyright infringement and, if requested, will pass on contact information to the appropriate legal authorities.

• Your story submission must be an original work, in good taste, legal, accurate and true, non-defamatory, non-threatening, non-confidential, non-infringing of copyrights owned by others and relevant for this site. (Please read our Copyright Notice)

• You certify that you have the right to submit the story (and/or photo and video) that you are submitting.

• Your submission of a story signifies an agreement to the above and that you agree to grant a royalty-free, transferable, perpetual license to publicly display your submission on this web site. (Please read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use)

• You must be 15 years or older to publish a story on RGS.

• We require your patience as it will take a few days before we get to read your story and publish it, depending on our schedule. We also reserve the right to change the title and undertake minor editing (for story flow, etc.). You will be advised of this editing and must agree to changes before your story is published on our site.
